Name the mating surface, contamination state, test method and whether you need static or kinetic friction. For transport use, UK DVSA guidance treats a certified coefficient of at least 0.6 as an effective high-friction surface. One NR/SBR load-mat example exceeded 0.6 against smooth steel in both wet and dry modified ASTM D1894 tests. Do not copy that value to another surface: send us your actual steel, wood or coated contact material so your approval sample is tested as the real pair.
No. A high friction rubber sheet can reduce sliding and may reduce the number of lashings, but UK DVSA guidance says you must not rely on friction alone. Your securing system still has to resist the full load weight forward and half the load weight sideways and rearward under normal road forces. Treat the certified friction value as one input to the restraint calculation, then keep the required lashings, barriers or blocking in the approved loading plan.
Test the installed surface under the contamination you expect, not only as a clean dry sheet. UK HSE guidance uses the pendulum method for flooring and classifies PTV 0–24 as high slip potential, 25–35 as moderate and 36 or above as low. Specify the target PTV, shoe or barefoot slider, wet contaminant and test direction on your order. We can then supply a matching approval sample, while the competent flooring assessor verifies the finished installation.
